Lake Martin "Polaroids"

Here is a picture of the lake, some distant trees, and the sun. During this lake trip I got to try out my girlfriend's little sister's really nice Canon t1i. It was really really pretty to say the least. We took some HD video footage, and it blew my freakin mind. But even with all the new fangled inventions that the world puts out, I feel like there will always be a place for the faded photography. It takes you back like a time machine. I sorta fake the oldness of my pictures by using old equipment.

Polaroids "Hoover Piles"

This picture was taken at the Hoover Country Club driving range. The whole course is under construction and I really liked these piles of sand. In the picture though the piles are not the focal point but rather the surroundings. The contrast was great in this photo so I was ultimately pleased. I wanted to capture a different mood but ended up with a beautiful landscape instead. Thats just how some great things turn out.

The Beautiful Fight

Something enchanted happened this week at Camp Briarwood Day camp. Something wonderful that sets in your heart a warm flame. Although in the beginning all the ingredients didn't add up to the spectacular outcome.
The scene was hot! The sun bore down on all of us, and it was time to head to the pool. The pool is the only refuge at camp. It's the only place you can hide from the sun, but only for an instant. We were kept out though. We waited at the pool gates and no one came. A cry rang up from the children. All were fuming with anger! Many pounded their fists against the iron clad window of the pool house. After a while it was no use. No one appeared. I and others lost hope. We fell to the ground from complete exhaust. How could we have been abandoned a such an hour of need? We all were down now, wasting away. Some wept while others sighed. "It is the end", we all said together. One was silent though. His mind was racing. He was conceptualizing! An idea! It rang out across the multitude. All was not lost, he said, all was not lost. "We shall have a contest!" At this moment we were all bewildered. "Two men will fight in classic Greco Roman style while each of us chant for our champion!" Aye! What a grand idea! Everyone was well pleased. Sam Gilmore was chosen as the leader of the Redland. His oppent was the almost evenly matched Rob Palmer of Whitecity. They both weighed in at no more than 125 lbs. The crowd surrounded them and the fighters made way to their positions in the grass. As i recall Sam was in the floor position with Rob's arms locked over Sam's chest.
The whistle was blown and the fight began. Sam with the intensity of a lion and Rob the fierceness of bear. They rolled over and over each other. Sam had many opportunities for a good pin, but Rob fought out. At one point Rob dropped Sam right onto his back, but with the testosterone flowing no man proved to be any more victorious than the other.
They went into three rounds, and by the third they each possessed the perseverance and strength of a baby Koala. Sam seemed surprised at Rob's skill. Apparently in previous fights Rob had had the toughness of a scaredy-cat. The men of the audience screamed and hollered! The chant "Sam!" came at first, but slowly Rob began to be the favorite.
Finally the match was called. The judges and I came to the center for a decision. We each were very impressed by the fightsmanship. We all gave our opinions and chose. Both men stood in the center. The referee's hand clutching each fighters arm. The epic conclusion. "After much delineation the judges have come to a conclusion. The winner of today's fortuitous battle is..." All was silent. The crowd stood perfectly still and at the moment the chains holding the gate closed on the pool clanked together as they fell. Breath was held, fingers were crossed, eyes were clenched shut. "No contest!" The chains hit the ground and everyone turned to see the pool had been opened. They all ran forgetting what they had seen. They all drove towards their original desire, to just find refuge from the heat.
